Version 1.2b3, released 2006-12-06

You remember a word, phrase or image title from a web page - but you've forgotten where you saw it - and you don't want to wade through 'History' or Google to find it!

Retrospective allows you to search Safari's cache for any textual (and, in version 1.2, image) content on previously visited websites. That way you can quickly locate a page again if you forget the address but know something about the content.

The upcoming version 1.2, currently in public beta, is many times faster at loading and searching the cache. It also allows you to save the cache folder for archival.

Suggestions for improvements are more than welcome. Retrospective is freeware and costs you nothing. If you like it, I would very much appreciate a donation (or just an email) :)

Leopard information

With the inclusion of Safari history search in Leopard's Spotlight the main reason for building Retrospective became part of Mac OS X. Because of this and since I am very busy building software for the web, there will be no further updates to Retrospective. The current version does not work with Safari 3 (part of Leopard and available to Tiger users too). If you still need some software other than Spotlight, I suggest looking at History Hound by St. Clair Software.
