It appears that Warner isn't the only music publisher annoyed with Apple's iTunes Music Store. According to this _very_ interesting read of how Sony cripple-protected My Morning Jacket's latest album Z. Not so much to avoid piracy as an attempt at muscling Apple into opening the iPod to other music services! In other words, DRM is now being used as a competitive economic weapon -- not as an anti-piracy tool.
Obviously, the album is not available on iTMS.
As the author explains Sony's incredibly stupid move has led him to postpone Sony products for approximately $6,710. How's that for a good strategy?
