A walk on the wild [virtual] side...

5th March, 2001

When it comes to attempts at making the Real World™ obsolete imagination is ever lasting it seems. The latest thing makes it possible to walk around a complete virtual model of New York. It's available at Dizzycity and requires the iPIX-plugin, which is a small [1meg] download [seems strange not to choose Apple's excellent QuickTime though].

It's fun to roam the streets for a couple of minutes, then you start wondering if a trip to the real thing wouldn't be even more fun. Combine the idea with computer rendered graphics and you might just be able to take a walk in Athen at the time of Socrates or hide from those Velociraptors from the Jurassic Period we've all come to love.
